Trekkers is gearing up to welcome 40 new 7th graders from its six-town service area of Thomaston, Cushing, St. George, South Thomaston, Owls Head and Rockland. Any 7th grader who resides in one of these towns and is interested in learning about becoming a Trekker this spring is invited, with their family, to attend our Community Meeting on Tuesday, February 4th from 6-7pm in the Oceanside Middle School cafeteria.

Becoming a Trekkers means joining a group of up to 20 other students for a 6-year experiential learning and mentorship program. Each group meets regularly and develops solid relationships with each other, peer leaders, their dedicated Program Manager and a trusted network of community volunteers. Over the course of the program, students plan and embark on outdoor expeditions, community service projects, adventure-based and cultural awareness opportunities, and explore aspirations for their future.

This meeting is mandatory for any 7th grade family starting the program. Staff will discuss the 7th grade program in detail and give an overview of the entire six-year program through grade 12. Staff will be available to answer questions and provide details about the application process. If unable to attend the community meeting, you can contact Program Manager Lindsey Veilleux at lindsey@trekkers.org or 207-594-5095 to learn about the program and next steps.

Applications will be available at the meeting and are due to the Trekkers office by March 9th. Applications will also be available online at www.trekkers.org after February 4th or at the Trekkers office (58 Park St. Suite 202, Rockland ME 04841).
