CAMPAIGN PRIORITIES

A THRIVING TREKKERS CAMPUS

Renovate our new home in Rockland into an intentional gathering space

Our goal is to create a campus where students and their families have a safe, welcoming home at 325 Old County Road – a place dedicated to programs, training, and events, and an accessible space where the community can gather.

HOW WE DO IT

    • Make program and office space accessible
    • Upgrade technology so that work, meetings, and trainings can happen at home or from the road
    • Create flexible outdoor spaces for gathering
    • Build private office and meeting spaces
    • Include a second bathroom
    • Expand to a full kitchen with plenty of space for groups!

    MOBILE CLASSROOM INFRASTRUCTURE

Fuel our travels with a new bus and bus barn

Trekkers’ buses are at the heart of expeditions – they serve as a home base in our travels. We ask a lot of them and must ensure they have a long, productive life. Outfitting them, adding a third, and sheltering them in a barn, will expand and extend our capacity to run more prepared, intentional programs. Along with programming space and a rock climbing wall, the bus barn will feature two bus bays and an outdoor pavilion for easier bus packing and maintenance.

    HOW WE DO IT

      • Add a third bus so we can run three expeditions at once and eliminate tight schedules
      • Outfit our new bus with seating and storage for camping equipment
      • Build nooks in the bus to be filled with games, cards, journals, and books for students on trips
      • Build a barn to shelter buses from the elements and prolong their lifespan, as well as increase our vital programming space

      TREKKERS TRAINING INSTITUTE

Expand our impact by training other youth development practitioners and organizations

The Trekkers Training Institute (TTI) is central to Trekkers’ strategic growth and expansion.  Training and coaching youth development practitioners in our model can expand student outcome success. Following initial investment, TTI will be sustained through a hybrid of philanthropy and earned revenue generated from trainings, coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements.

      HOW WE DO IT

        • Invest in personnel to ensure we have the capacity to meet the growing need for social and emotional learning

        PROGRESS UPDATE

        • Our first campaign investment was hiring a Training Director for TTI, Diane Sternberg.

        BOARD DESIGNATED FUND

Ensure that future generations of Trekkers start off on the right road

Establishing a Board Designated Innovation Fund will provide Trekkers with the flexibility and resiliency to adapt and respond to evolving community needs. This fund helps to ensure Trekkers will be around for the next 30 years.

        HOW WE DO IT

          • The Trekkers board will vote to access invested funds when a special expedition experience arises, the building needs repair, or another unexpected expense or opportunity arises.
