Creative Process

“The Sailor’s Valentine is traditionally a shellcraft arranged into a geometric mosaic. They might bear a message given to loved ones from men at sea. My valentine is from a stranded sailor architect stuck in Panama because of the pandemic. The poem on the edges reveals his plight: Love in the Time of Corona. Poem: “Celtic tradition of Handfasting” Fasten your abiding hand to mine, Tied together with a braided twine, Exchange rings and vows in bright earthsine, Knots tied and braided like vines entwined, Each one promises love til death do part, With each breath love destines.
