Underneath the Tree of Life, Olympic Coast, 2021, was taken on a cross country road trip using a bulky medium format film camera I lugged around from June to August of that year. Making many stops on the Oregon coast, I happened to stop at a beach where the well known Tree of Life hangs suspended, supported by the land and sand. Standing under the roots, I photographed the light peering through the gaping branches, a glow from the other side, as if I could be transporting if I reached far enough.

Artist Bio

camille valdepeñas drury (b. providence, rhode island) is an artist that examines the archive in relation to changing landscapes, focusing on environmental ephemerality. valdepeñas drury received her BFA in photography and art history minor from parsons school of design. She currently lives and works in new york, ny.
