“Ghost over the Memory” is a body of work where I acknowledge the power negative images have and direct that toward my archive of film negatives revisiting and revising photos I seemingly ignored or had forgotten in favor of others. Flipping through and viewing them solely as negatives creates an immediate disconnect between my history and the photos I have taken allowing me to interpret them differently. The image, rather than being selected for its emotional or historical connection to me, can be selected instead for its aesthetic value, textural depth, abstractness, and bizarreness.

Artist Bio

Bruno Jansen (b. 2000) is an American-Brazilian artist. His work includes darkroom experimentations, project-based photo series, films, performances, and photo sculptures, all in an attempt to elevate the medium of photography and see how far the medium can be pushed with and without the use of a camera.
