Not Far From the Tree
Oil on Acrylic Panel, 11 1/4″ x 18 1/2,” framed
This piece is one of a series experimenting in a process of a drawing with graphite on colored paper and overlaying it with an oil painting on transparent acrylic panel, retaining some of the drawing, and allowing the paper to influence the overall color of the painting. I think the subject conveys the importance of strong connections, a natural world metaphor for the support of community and mentorship inherent in Trekkers.
Artist Bio
Calling Thomaston my home since 2008, my practice is centered largely in studio created oil paintings. I’ve exhibited locally in recent years at Mars Hall, Granite and the Craignair Gallery and formerly in several galleries in Virginia and Maryland. I completed a large mural behind Thomaston’s business block designed to highlight local appreciation of it’s history. I am currently preparing for a large exhibition this summer at Granite Gallery in Tenants Harbor from July 31-August 5.
